We are me; Mummy, otherwise known as Michelle, Big chickpea; Daddy, otherwise known as Tristan, Medium chickpea; Rowan and Baby chickpea Reuben. This blog was started as I thought I was starting to loose track of all the amazing day to day things my children learn and how we grow as a family. It is also here to keep family and friends up to date with our adventure of moving our life from the UK to Australia.

Winter Wonderland

Well what a week.  Being in Cornwall we don't really listen to the weather people when they say things like we are going to have an arctic blast with lots of snow  as we don't very often get big snow.  Well we should have listened!

We had a light splattering on Thursday, then when we woke up on Saturday morning the garden was white, beautiful and magical.  The boys were out like a flash, Rowan loves the snow, Reuben has never seen proper snow, he wasn't so keen.  He came in after about 30 mins crying because his feet were really cold "No mummy I mean really really cold!"

Our garden on the first morning of proper snow..

 The first snowball fight...

The first snowman, he was quite small in relation to the amount of snow that we had, but it was so powdery that it just wouldn't stick into a ball..
Some amazing icicles in the woodstore..

We live on a main road between two towns.  This is how it looked on Monday morning, you couldn't work out where the pavement ended.  It was amazing how many crazy people were out driving in it, or should I say skidding in it!
The garden after another night of snow
Reu really wasn't very impressed by the coldness of it all...
That was until we went sledging...
We walked down the lane and found the steepest field we could find, and with our feed bag, pillow and a bit of trampling of the snow into a track off we went..

 The view of the village

Rowan made a giant snowball that he carried all the way home, not sure why he didn't just make one at home, but he was very proud of his beast!

On the Tuesday Tristan still couldn't get to work and most people we knew were still snowed in, so we headed off to our freinds who live in the middle of nowhere.  I battle for most of the year with my conscience over having a four wheel drive but when it comes to getting out in the snow, well we made it down roads that were offically closed!  Our friends live on a farm and they had made one field into a slegding track with quad bikes and sledges galore...

I love this photo of Rowan wandering, he wasn't really that interested in the sledges, he just truly loves being out in the magical whiteness..

Reuben knocking the head off of the bigger snowman with great delight!
De-icing the path...
Then as quickly as it came, it has suddenly warmed up, the rain has pretty much been non stop since last night and the world has turned to sludge!  I feel really sad when I look at the next photo, I have really enjoyed having so much snow and it not going, but now it has gone, we can just hope it comes back again!  Rowan asked this morning, "Will it be spring next week now the snow has gone?"  Not quite yet sweetheart.

Other than enjoying the snow we have been busy Christmas crafting, making presents, cards, snowflakes and much more.  I do get very excited around Christmas time and I love doing Christmassy stuff with the boys, singing and crafting mostly.  It is so nice that they are enjoying family traditions without getting sucked into the commercial side of it all.
I am super busy at the mo with a present list longer than my needles, I can't knit fast enough!  So computer time is now limited as I need to finish 2 more scarves, a horse and a chicken!
