We are me; Mummy, otherwise known as Michelle, Big chickpea; Daddy, otherwise known as Tristan, Medium chickpea; Rowan and Baby chickpea Reuben. This blog was started as I thought I was starting to loose track of all the amazing day to day things my children learn and how we grow as a family. It is also here to keep family and friends up to date with our adventure of moving our life from the UK to Australia.

Equinox Weekend

The weekend started with rain, so Tris took the boys out for the morning and I did some things peacefully; Baked 2 loaves of Tassajara bread and finished off some projects.

Then we all went to meet a friends new baby, she is 2 weeks old and lovely and scrunchy and smells that lovely baby smell.  Rowan proudly gave Ava her booties, that I had knitted and he had wrapped up all by himself!
Whilst we were their the sun came out and everyone had a lovely time catching up with friends that we hadn't seen for a while, then on the way home we took a detour and got fish and chips for tea and sat on Porthleven beach watching the wild sea crash and foam, and the sun set.  It was a beautiful, spur of the moment evening.  And it was so nice to sit and have tea in the daylight, even though we were cold (especially me, I sat on wet pebbels!) we has that feeling you get when spring has sprung and everyone comes out of hibernation!

Then it was Sunday.  We are very fortunate to live quite close to the Tate Gallery, St. Ives.  And once a month they do a family day, with lots of exhibition related activites for kids.  We met up with some friends and had a look.  I wasn't very taken with the exhibition this time and Rowan wasn't sure about the activites until we got to the clay, which everyone loved, especially the Daddies!

After the gallery we had some lunch on the beach, then had a stroll around St. Ives.  I love visiting St.Ives at this time of year, it is so quaint and dreamy (in the summer it's a different story though!)
The boys were both in great moods and loved running around on the cobbled streets.  Reuben was in a super cheeky mood!

Anyway we headed up to the Barbara Hepworth museum, which I was really excited about as I had never been there.  Barbara Hepworth was a famous sculpture who was based in St Ives and her studio is now a museum.

The kids loved the gardens, I will let the pictures say the rest!

I love going to art galleries with children, their perception of what it is, is so innocent and imaginative.  Rowan said that this one is big scissors for cutting the grass!

It was breathtaking, the sculptures were amazing and it was so nice that you could touch them and feel free amongst them.  Although Rowan and his fairy friend did get told off for eating in them!

Overall a beautiful weekend full of new things and sunshine Xx

Daffodowndilly

Our daffodils have finally opened, unfortuntley this came with the rain!
I thought I would post one of our favourite poems at the moment;

Daffodowndilly

She wore her yellow sun-bonnet,
She wore her greenest gown;
She turned to the south wind
And curtsied up and down.
She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbour:
"Winter is dead."

My week in smiles

Not taken many photos, but thought I'd share some sparkly good moments that have stuck in my head;

Finished building shelves in the wardrobe in the spare room to keep all crafting kit nice and tidy.

Rowan went to his pre school and came home in the same trousers!  And felt secure enough to have a nap.

Rowans 'shop' is slowly getting more stock in it and he is getting really good at adding things up now.

We have decided that we are getting chickens and plan to get ex battery ones.  Have sort of decided on an area in the garden, now need to work on a house for them.

Went for a really long walk down the tramway on our last day of sun with the boys on their bikes, met the lovely skinny horse that Reuben is in love with, then had a noesy into someones garden to look at their chicken house.  (Rowan is getting very excited about it and has decided that the house will have blue walls, yellow windows, and green roof and red and yellow ramps!)

Put some potatoes in for chitting, and planted some seeds; Courgette, Peas, Coriander and Melissa.

Making breadsticks (Rowan wanted breadsticks 'like the lady at the home ed group made!')

The breadsticks were nothing like Liz's and I also left the in a bit too long, they were very crunchy, they would have good for a teething baby!

Rowan watching the rain and commenting 'The rain falls down from the sky, then hits the ground and goes along.  Then it goes back up into the sky and falls down again later'.  How amazing it is to watch a child learn things all by themselves.

Dressing up always popular in this house.   Rowan was putting his washing in whilst being a flaminco fireman!  He then fell asleep on the hallway floor in his lovely dress!

Making dyed eggs at the home ed group this afternoon.

Reclaiming some space for a season shelf.

My knitting basket.
When the boys are tucked up in bed and all chores are done, its time to put my feet up with a cup of Chamomile tea and relax in front of the fire with my knitting.

Mothers Day Weekend, Part Two

After our tiring Saturday everyone slept until 8 o'clock (Thats a lie in in this house!)  I was woken by Rowan saying ' Happy Birthday Mummy!'  It isn't my birthday he did mean Mothers Day, Bless Him!  They bought into bed a lovely card with lots of kisses written into it and a new mug as my overused and much loved one lost its handle.

We had planned to go swimming today, but as the weather was sooo lovely again, I really wanted to go for a long walk.  So we headed off to the Falmouth Estuary.  We walked alongside the estuary on a wooded footpath,  kicking the dry leaves and looking for signs of spring.

Reuben and Tristan had hidden and really made me jump at this point!

No walk would be complete without a Daddy Tree Lesson, Today: Oak Apples (Galls)

Reueben was fascinated by some bird poo on a leaf!

I'm not sure what Rowan was looking at!

Happy Mama!

Yes it did look inviting, Reuben went in up to his knees!

Football and  Roly Polys, what better way to end a lovely sunny weekend.

Mothers Day weekend Part one

This weekend Tristan had the whole two days off!  This was cause for celebration, as the end of winter and beginning of springtime is his busiest time of year.  He has been working flat out over the last few weeks and we haven't seen him much.  But this weekend he had no work planned!  So we planned to get out as much as possible and have lovely days together.

The boys decided to start the weekend off with 'Nappy Head Racing!'

Then we headed on to Godrevy Beach Cafe for Mothers Day lunch a day early, with both our mums and my brother.  It was a beautiful, sunny and warm day and the beach cafe was packed, but everyone enjoyed sitting around in the sun, watching the kids play whilst we waited for our very yummy food.

Rowan had great fun rolling into the little sandpits!

Reuben made a friend, I don't know what they were looking at but it looks interesting!

Ooops, in again!

These two boys are always playing rough and tumble, I don't know where it has come from, maybe its being two brothers, who knows but most of the time they love it.

Reuben is particulary boisterous, perhaps its having an older brother. He is most happy when throwing objects at people, he just doesn't get the idea of 'gentle hands'!

Rowan is most happy when running outside, he gets this special look of glee on his face like he's going to explode with happiness!

After lunch we all headed off for a walk to the beach.  the nearest beach to the cafe is a pebbly beach, but very sheltered.  It was so warm.

My brother, Tris and Rowan (Just smile and wave boys, just smile and wave!)

Tristans mum with Reuben and Heidi dog.

Reuben and my mum.

(me playing with the camera) Rowan dreaming and walking.

Rowan the dreamer.
Rowan can be so full on and crazy sometimes, but at other times he can be so peaceful and at one with his present surroundings

After our time on the beach we headed back to the carpark when Rowan decided that paths were boring and legged it up the cliff!  Tristan went after him to be followed by cries of ' mee, mee too!' Wherever Rowan and Daddy goes the Boo has to go too!

And as if that wasn't enough for one day, we had been invited out for an evening of skittles with Tristans archery group.  Which was great fun, the bowling place is a little skittle alley in the middle of nowhere and aswell as basic skittles (no uv lights and loud music here!) they have the biggest selection of board games you have ever seen.  Rowan LOVES it here.  One of the archery members gave up his chance of a proper game to show the boys how to play

A lovely day was had by all, very tiring but nice to spend a whole day as a family.
