Breakfast on the Carn

One sunny Sunday morning last month.  Tris got the boys up and got out of the house just after the sun had risen.  Opposite our house is a hill called Carn Marth, where there is an ampitheatre in an old quarry and at the top a beautiful large lake.  It is one of the highest points around.

So they packed up a bag with some fruit for a breakfast on the Carn and left me in bed!

Summer festivals: Part One

Before autumn makes everything sleepy, golden and musty I thought I had better do a catch up of our summer.

August was a crazy month of festivals, camping, national parks, fungus, woodlands and family time.

First off was Holifair, a local festival.  The rain actually held off and we camped on the farm and enjoyed some local bands, saw old friends, and enjoyed the music in the sunshine!

Reuben loved dancing to this band, they are a girl punk band called the Eyelids!  Even Rowan got up for a dance, as they had a double bass, which is his favourite instrument.

Shed cake, pedal bikes and a whole lotta birthday fun!

So Rowan was 4 on Thursday.  He had asked for a pedal bike and a shed cake for his birthday, of which he got both!

The breakfast table set up for Rowans birthday morning, crown, cards, 4 candles and chocolate twisty pastries he chose for birthday breakfast.

The birthday boy, opening his first ever grown up lego set!  He has played solidly with for 3 days now!

After breakfast and space station building we all headed off to the park for a bike ride, on his new pedal bike.  Rowan has outgrown his balance bike for a while now and has been eagerly awaiting a pedal bike for ages.  He is very cautious on it, as Rowan is with everything, and will proudly walk around pushing it for while until he feels confident enough to get on it, then with a little help to get started off he goes, pedalling on his own!  It is truly amazing to watch your child ride their bike for the first time, as is any first time proud parent moment!

Then later that day he had a little afternoon party for him and his friends, it was a crazy couple of hours of 8 2-5 year olds running around being crazy, only one injury, but lots of fun.
Rowan asked about 6 months ago for a shed cake for his 4th birthday, when asked why a shed cake, he replied "Because I like sheds!"  6 months later he remembered and he thinks it looked like a shed with a sparkly roof, so thats all that matters, I thought it looked more like a yurt, but there you go!

Rowan had a fabulous birthday, he recieved everything he had asked for and was really grateful for everything he received.  He still keeps coming out of his bedroom and saying, "Mummy I really love all my presents, Thankyou"

Four years ago tonight, Rowan was born under a full moon.  He nows lies asleep eagerly awaiting his special day tomorrow.  

 

 

 Rowan, my amazing, funny, spirited little soul, you make me laugh every day and I feel so proud to be your mama, to watch you grow and learn and enjoy life every day. 
I hope tomorrow is an extra special day for you.

My energy won't come out!

Don't have time to post much at the mo, but I just wanted to keep a note of Rowans little comment last week that made me think, 'I have to treasure that one somewhere'....

After the festival last weekend Rowans asthma reared its ugly head, we managed to keep on top of it, but it really makes him hyper/manic, this uncontrolable, intense energy just takes over him.  Anyway when I suggested we went out for a walk to try and get rid of some of his energy, he replied,

" You can't get rid of my energy mummy, its all tied up in my tummy and won't come out!"

It made me laugh out loud, then got me thinking how amazing and grown up he was for realising that somehting wasn't quite right in himself!

Anyway his breathing is better now, and his wild energy has left for while ( a long while, I hope!)

We haven't joined in with Jodis blog for a while but here is this weeks fungus!

Giant rhubarb and silly faces!

This is just a bits and bobs post, some silly photos and some odd photos that just don't fit anywhere else!

After my initial bragging about how lovely our veg patch was doing it has drastically turned to plop! However my good old Grandads Rhubarb has taken on gigantic proportions and is taking over the garden!  I really must find a local produce show!  We can't eat it quick enough, it is now so large that 3 stems will make a crumble that lasts two days! ( The one in Rowans right hand weighed 500g!)

  

My Dad gave me a disk of some photos of the boys that he had taken, some from when they went strawberry picking..
