It is officially the rainy season now and we actually have
rain (well today we do and it is forecast to stay for the weekend). This is to be celebrated here, it means the
very low dams can refill, our lawn will get some well needed water and
hopefully won’t resemble straw anymore!
The temperature cools down and everyone is happy as it has been so hot
and dry for so long.
Well that was Thursday, today is Sunday and it hasn't stopped for more than a few minutes. Add to that strong winds to the point of possible tornados.
An evacuation centre has opened a few km's away for people close to rivers and the sea (we are close to the sea but not that close and we are up hill).
We have our evacuation bag packed up, our tornado shelter made up in the dining room, water bottles and containers filled all around the house, plenty of supplies and we are tuned into local radio.
The wind gusts are very strong, people along the coast are without power and the threat of a tornado is very real. Tristan however still keeps saying, 'Oh, it's no worse that when I was trekking in Scotland!'
It is a bit scary, but we are prepared.
